Novice Learn to Luge (target ages 8-12)

Children and youth that want to pick up luge as a weekly activity can sign up for the Novice Learn to Luge program, which runs from November to March. Participants can train one to four times per week. Consistent coaching support ensures progression and skill development.

 

Program Components

  • November to March: On-ice luge sliding, coordination development
    • Ages 8-12 years (Youth D & E): 1 time per week ($400)
    • Ages 11-12 years (Youth C): 2 times per week ($750) or 3-4 times per week ($1000)
  • March to November: OFF
    • Athletes are encouraged to participate in as many other sports as possible to develop overall athletic ability.

  • BC Cup #1 (Dec. 15-16, 2017)
  • BC Cup #2  (Jan. 26-27, 2018)
  • BC Cup #3 Feb. 23-24, 2018)
  • Canada Cup/Calgary (Feb. 10-11, 2018)
  • Youth Canadian Championships/Whistler (Mar. 3-4, 2018)
  • BC Provincial Championships (Mar. 16-17, 2018)

Travel

  • Trip to Calgary/Canada Cup (Feb. 10-11, 2018), Cost TBD

 

2017-2018 Program Fees (payment plans available)

  • 8-12 years (1 session/week): $400/ season

  • 11-12 years (2 sessions/week): $750/ season
  • 11-12 years (3-4 sessions/week): $1000/ season

All luge athletes have to be regular members of the BC Luge Association (membership $25/year, registration during program sign-up)
