Development Program / Youth A / Junior/NextGen Selects

The Development Program / Youth A/Junior/NextGen Selects group is a year-round training program for high-level provincial development athletes ages 13-14, that are working towards moving up into Luge Canada's Next Gen group. Training happens six days per week in the winter and five days per week in the summer.

 

Full-time Program Components

  • October to March
    • Luge sliding, strength training, coordination development
    • 6 times per week ($3600)
  • March to April
    • Active Rest
  • May to October
    • Wheeled luge, strength training, coordination development, flat ice Training
    • 5 days per week (included in winter fees – summer training)

  • NORAM Cup #1/Lake Placid (Nov. 11-19, 2017)
  • BC Cup #1 (Dec. 15-16, 2017)
  • NORAM Cup #2/Calgary (Jan. 8-14, 2018)
  • NORAM Cup #3 / BC Cup #2/Whistler (Jan. 26-28, 2018)
  • BC Cup #3 (Feb. 23-24, 2018)
  • Canada Cup/Calgary (Feb. 15-11, 2018)
  • Youth Canadian Championships/Whistler (Mar. 3-4, 2018)
  • BC Provincial Championships (Mar. 9-10, 2018)

Travel

  • Trips to Calgary to participate in National Team selection (Oct/Nov 2017), Cost TBD
  • Trip to Lake Placid, NY/Training Camp & NORAM Cup #1 (Nov. 10-20, 2017), Cost: $2000-$2500
  • Trip to Calgary/NORAM (Jan. 7-15, 2018), Cost TBD
  • Trip to Calgary/Canada Cup (Feb. 4-12, 2018), Cost: TBD
  • Additional training camp opportunities TBC

 

2017-2018 Program Fees (payment plan available)

  • Full Time Athletes (includes summer training): $3600/ season

All luge athletes have to be regular members of the BC Luge Association (membership $25/year, registration during program sign-up)
