Skis
Ski jumpers use specially-made long, straight skis, which are often as long as 275 centimetres.
Poles
Ski jumpers are not permitted to use poles.
Clothing
Ski jumpers wear form-fitting one-piece ski suits. The ski suit must allow a certain amount of wind/air to pass through the fabric; this is the most controlled part of the ski jumper’s equipment and is dictated by the FIS international competition rules.
Wax
The wax a skier chooses to put on his skis can help him fly further as a result of achieving more speed on the in-run.
Boots
Ski jumping boots are similar to stiff, high top running shoes.
Bindings
While the bindings of old were known to use cables to hold the foot to the ski, new bindings hold only the toe and have the ability to release in a crash, if required.
