Responsible for three of Whistler's 2010 Olympic & Paralympic Winter Games Venues: the Whistler Sliding Centre, Whistler Olympic Park, and the Whistler Athletes' Centre.
Biathlon

Biathlon is a sport in which participants combine cross-country skiing with rifle marksmanship. In competition biathlon is performed using skate technique and 22 calibre rifles. Athletes or participants skate a short ski loop, fire 5 rounds at the biathlon target and head off again around the ski loop. There are various formats but the ultimate goal is to ski fast and shoot straight. The sport is wildly popular in many areas of the world and particularly in central Europe.
At Whistler Olympic Park we offer a variety of recreational programs for biathlon.
Experience Biathlon & Discover Biathlon
Winter & Summer
The Experience Biathlon program allows public to shoot at the biathlon range using authentic biathlon rifles but foregoes the skiing portion. Through the summer months guests can still take aim at the Olympic Biathlon Range and get a feel for the sport.
The Discover Biathlon program includes skate ski instruction in addition to range activities. Although biathlon is generally performed using skate technique we also offer Discover Biathlon programs using classic technique.

Biathlon Sport Programs
Winter
In addition to purely recreational programs, Whistler Olympic Park in conjunction with the Callaghan Winter Sport Club, offers two sport development programs. If you or your children are interested in pursuing biathlon as a competitive endeavor this is the place to start.
We offer the National sanctioned Biathlon Bears program for youth aged 8-13 years and the Masters Biathlon program for adults aged 18yrs +.
