"It’s a cold but beautifully sunny Saturday in January and I’m on a cross-country ski trail, staring at a hill which looms ahead of me. Normally I would not be perturbed by this level of incline, but today it feels insurmountable; I’m strapped into a sit-ski for the first time ever, coming to terms with the prospect of a gruelling climb using just my arms.

Earlier this season, I attended the Rossignol Women’s Nordic Ski Day at Whistler Olympic Park. I’d been a participant last year for an introduction to classic skiing, so when the event came around again I signed up to try a skate ski lesson"...
