Are you gearing up for the Coast Outdoors P’ayakentsut and looking for expert guidance to master the 15 km loppet course at Whistler Olympic Park? Bob’s Payak Playbook is your ultimate prep solution! This three-part training series will help you build skills, confidence, and efficiency so you’re ready to glide across the finish line with the cheers of the Nordic community behind you.

ing participants focus on techniques for climbing, descending, pacing, and maintaining energy throughout the race.
 

Meet Your Coach

Join Bob Putnam, co-owner of Coast Outdoors and title sponsor of The Payak. With years of experience coaching both cross-country and alpine skiing—and as a seasoned Payak participant—Bob knows the course inside and out. His sessions combine technical tips, pacing strategies, and hands-on instruction in a fun and supportive group setting.

 

Event Details

Price: $30 per session (plus $2 registration fee)
Dates: Sundays, January 11, 18, and 25, 2026
Start time: 10:00 a.m. sharp
Duration: 1.5 hours
Age requirement: 16+ (lessons may include mature content)
Discipline: Skate or classic
Meeting point: On snow, directly in front of the Day Lodge (upstairs entrance)

  • Madeley Loop: Save energy with efficient skiing techniques.
  • Porter’s Glide: Maximize your glide for faster speeds.

With Bob’s expert advice, you’ll know what to expect at every turn, making the Payak a fun and rewarding experience.
