Whistler Olympic Park Launches “I Am a Nordic Skier” Program to Encourage Youth to Return and Share Their Nordic Experience
Whistler, BC – February 10, 2026 – Whistler Olympic Park is pleased to introduce its new “I Am a Nordic Skier” initiative, designed to encourage students to return after their school visit and share their Nordic skiing experience with their families.
Each year, nearly 3,000 students participate in Whistler Olympic Park’s curriculum-connected school programs, which include cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, and biathlon. During their visit, students receive instruction, take part in guided activities, and gain confidence on snow—often trying Nordic sports for the very first time.
To build on that experience and make it easier for families to get involved, Whistler Olympic Park is launching the “I Am a Nordic Skier” free return visit program for the 2025–2026 season.
Every student who takes part in a school program will receive a special “I Am a Nordic Skier” pass, which includes:
- One free return visit, including equipment rentals
- 50% off tickets and rentals for accompanying family members
“This program is about creating an opportunity for a second visit,” says Kirk Paterson, Sport School Supervisor at Whistler Olympic Park. “We want kids to return with their families, take pride in showing off their new skills, and discover that Nordic skiing can be a fun and affordable family activity." - Watch Kirk’s Video
