5 km Loop + 2 km Return to Falls | Hike & Bike
Cruise through the forest on Madeley Creek Loop, one of Whistler Olympic Park’s most popular winter cross-country ski trails. In summer, this wide trail is perfect for hiking or biking, with a beautiful mix of wetlands, forest, and creekside scenery.
Access the trail just right of the RV Comfort station (little log house) and go under the bridge. Turn right, then go left on Olympic Connector to reach Madeley Creek Loop. Enjoy the flow of the trail as it meanders alongside Madeley Creek.
Looking for an extra challenge? Continue up Norwegian Woods for an additional 2 km return hike to Lower Madeley Falls. This section is uphill, but the waterfall is worth the effort.

Madeley Lake • 17 km return • Bike & Hike
Long Hike | Hike & E-Mountain Bike | Advanced Adventure
Looking for a longer adventure? Madeley Lake is one of the hidden gems of Whistler Olympic Park. Surrounded by mountains and old-growth forest, this peaceful alpine lake is a rewarding destination for hikers and e-mountain bikers.
Start on Madeley Creek Loop. Halfway around the loop, take the turnoff toward Norwegian Woods / Lunch Lake. From here, the trail becomes more challenging and technical, with steeper climbs and descents.
About 1.2 km from the junction, turn left to visit beautiful Madeley Falls. Continue to Lunch Lake and return to the Day Lodge, or carry on to Madeley Road (Forest Service Road).
From Madeley Road, walk or bike approximately 300 metres to the road gate and parking area. You will find the trailhead with information about the renowned Rainbow Madeley/ Hanging Lake Backcountry Trailhead on the right.
Continue straight past the gate to reach beautiful Madeley Lake!
🚨 Please visit the guest services desk of the Day Lodge for more information on the Norwegian Woods / Madeley Lake network of trails.
Madeley Lake • Know Before You Go
Going to Madeley Lake is a full-day adventure with significant elevation gain. Although the trail is wide, its rough surface, long climbs, and descents make it best suited to experienced hikers and confident (fit!) mountain bikers or e-mountain bikers.
To help preserve the natural environment around Madeley Lake, vehicle access beyond the gate is restricted, and the lake is intended as a walk-in or bike-in destination.
Please stop by the Day Lodge Guest Services before your trip for trail conditions, route information, and the latest access updates. Portions of the Norwegian Woods trail network and access to Madeley Lake may occasionally be unavailable due to operational activities or special events.
- As always when heading to the mountains, follow Adventure Smart Guidelines.
- 4x4 vehicles can drive up the Madeley Creek road (FSR) to the gate from the Evo Callaghan bridge access.
